We're Back in Amsterdam! Beginner 1 Japanese Class Starts 29 September

Some news we've been excited to share for a while: Sakura Japanese Workshop is returning to Amsterdam this autumn.

When we paused our Amsterdam classes, we kept hearing the same question — "When are you coming back?" Honestly, it came up more often than we expected. Amsterdam learners kept joining our online lessons and even travelling to The Hague, and every time, we felt we owed the city a proper classroom again.

So here it is. Starting Tuesday 29 September 2026, our Beginner 1 group class is back in Amsterdam.

What's the class like?

If you've never studied Japanese before, this is exactly where you start. No prior knowledge needed — not even hiragana.

Forget the rigid classroom you might be imagining. Our lessons are interactive, supportive, and genuinely fun. From week one, you'll be speaking: introducing yourself, chatting with classmates, and picking up the cultural context behind the language — the secrets hiding in anime, food, and travel.

We use the Genki I textbook (Chapters 1–3), the most trusted beginner series worldwide, and guide you gently through the fundamentals at a sustainable pace. It's the perfect way to spend a Tuesday evening — learning a new language and making new friends after work.

A few practical notes

  • Places are limited, and the course is confirmed once we reach the minimum of 4 participants — so if you're thinking about it, earlier is better.

  • You'll need the Genki I textbook and workbook (3rd Edition) before the first lesson. Details will be shared after enrollment.

  • After Beginner 1, you can continue seamlessly into Beginner 2 — Amsterdam is back for the long run.

Ready to start?

If you've always wanted to learn Japanese but weren't sure where to begin, this is your sign. Ten Tuesday evenings from now, you'll be introducing yourself in Japanese — and probably surprising yourself with how much you understand.

We can't wait to see you in Amsterdam.
